ROLEX TESTIMONEES TO HONOUR MOTORING TRADITION AND HERITAGE AT THE 2025 GOODWOOD REVIVAL

Geneva, 3 September 2025 – Since its inception in 1998, the Goodwood Revival has been a cherished date on the motor racing calendar; an immersive celebration of the sport’s golden era between 1948 and 1966. From Friday 12 to Sunday 14 September, the Goodwood Motor Circuit will welcome racing legends as they rewind the clock and push the limits of prized historic automotive innovations. Rolex has a profound appreciation for the drivers, riders, cars and motorcycles that form the fabric of the sport, and, for more than two decades, the Swiss watchmaker has supported the Goodwood Revival as its Official Timepiece and Title Sponsor of the Rolex Drivers’ Club.

Rolex Testimonee Jenson Button will be one of the motor sport heroes taking part in this year’s Revival. The British racing driver and classic car enthusiast will get behind the wheel of his very own 1962 Jaguar E-Type ‘CUT 8’, in the Royal Automobile Club TT Celebration. Button, who is currently competing in the FIA World Endurance Championship, says:

“The racing at Goodwood is so pure, so mechanical – and that's what I love about motor sport, becoming at one with the car. The Goodwood Revival is one of the my favourite weekends of the year and I'm looking forward to returning this year, particularly with my 'new' Jaguar E-Type.”

Joining Button at the historic gathering will be fellow Rolex Testimonees Sir Jackie Stewart and Tom Kristensen, regular and much-loved figures at the meeting. This year’s event holds particular significance as the motor sport world comes together to honour the legacy of the late Jim Clark, a driver whom Sir Jackie deeply admired. The Scotsmen and dear friends have shared the official lap record at Goodwood Motor Circuit – 1 minute 20.4 seconds – for six decades. Kristensen, the record nine-time winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, first competed at the Revival in 2012. He will be joined on track by nine fellow 24 Hours of Le Mans champions boasting a combined 33 wins at the twice-around-the-clock race.

Reflecting on the prestige of the gathering and Rolex's long-term support, Kristensen says:

“Celebrating the past glories of our sport has never felt more important, and the Goodwood Revival captures that better than anywhere else. The Duke of Richmond’s attention to detail authentically brings the Circuit’s history back to life, with the entire event styled to reflect this iconic era. Rolex’s ongoing support of the Revival and the Drivers’ Club, which is the heart of the experience, is what makes everyone want to be part of this spectacular event.”

Each year, The Duke of Richmond pays tribute to significant moments in motor sport history through immersive displays and evocative decorations. This year, the Goodwood Revival honours two milestones with Alfa Romeo. It is 100 years since the car maker won the first World Championship for Manufacturers in 1925, and half a century since it dominated the World Sportscar Championship. Sharing his devotion to upholding tradition, The Duke of Richmond comments:

“I was lucky enough to come to events at the Circuit from a young age, and that’s really where my passion began. In the 1950s and 1960s the cars were exquisite, the racing was competitive, and the social scene and ambience were important. It’s easy to look back with rosetinted spectacles, but it really was a fabulous time. The Revival is underpinned by the ethos of ‘Revive and Thrive’. There is a real joy in quality objects, whether that’s a classic car or watch. These are things that can, and should, be kept for a lifetime and then passed on to future generations.”

As the weekend draws to a close, the Driver of the Meeting will be presented with a specially engraved Rolex Perpetual 1908 – a fitting tribute to reflect the racing spirit and skill demonstrated throughout the spectacle.
