ROLEX TESTIMONEES POISED TO LIGHT UP THE LAVER CUP IN SAN FRANCISCO

Geneva, 16 September 2025 – America’s Golden State is set to host the Laver Cup and the most prodigious talents in men’s tennis at the Chase Center, San Francisco, from Friday 19 to Sunday 21 September. Individual rivalries will be put aside as six of Europe’s leading players take on six of their counterparts from the rest of the world, many of whom will be vying for victory at home in the United States. Since partnering with The Championships, Wimbledon, in 1978, Rolex has extended its support for tennis and the game’s greatest contests. In 2017, the Swiss watchmaker once again demonstrated its commitment by becoming a Founding Partner of the Laver Cup.

The annual event provides a rare opportunity for adversaries to compete on the same side of the net, forging unbreakable bonds on and off the court. Fritz is one of the players leading the United States’ resurgence at the highest levels of the sport and will play for Team World alongside Brazilian sensation João Fonseca, who joined the Rolex family of Testimonees last year. Consistent performances on the ATP Tour have earned both career-high rankings, Fritz ascending to World No.4 and Fonseca breaking into the Top 50. Looking ahead to competing in his home state of California, Rolex Testimonee Fritz says:

Inspired by Rolex Testimonee Roger Federer’s enduring vision for tennis, the Laver Cup promotes the transmission of knowledge across generations, enabling the sport’s history to shape its future. Two-time Grand Slam®  champion Pat Rafter and former World No.4 Tim Henman have been announced as vice-captains for Team World and Team Europe respectively. Rafter says:

“Tim and I had a great rivalry during our careers; our head-to-head record is quite equal. He’s a good man and a good friend of mine. I’m sure we will have a lot of fun on the court and there will be some entertainment on the sidelines too. Two of the game’s all-time greats and Rolex Testimonees, Roger Federer and Rod Laver, are behind the event, which makes it a very natural fit for Rolex. The brand supports tennis legends, as well as current players and it’s at the Laver Cup where these generations share the same court. As well as attempting to outsmart each other tactically, Rafter and Henman will seek to impart wisdom to those currently on their professional tennis journeys. Denmark’s Holger Rune is poised to make his Laver Cup debut for Team Europe, joining forces with his childhood friend, Carlos Alcaraz, who recently won his sixth Grand Slam®  title at the 2025 US Open and reclaimed the World No.1 ranking. Speaking of his friendship with the Spaniard and fellow Rolex Testimonee, Rune says:

“I grew up competing in junior tournaments with Carlos so it’s amazing to think we are still playing tennis together now. It’s really cool to see him achieving at the top of the game. It’s very special to be able to share these moments and represent the Rolex family together.”
