DP WORLD TOUR CHAMPIONSHIP, DUBAI RETURNS TO JUMEIRAH GOLF ESTATES WITH ROLEX AS OFFICIAL TIMEKEEPER
Geneva, Switzerland, Wednesday 17 November 2021 -The DP World Tour Championship, Dubai is the climax to the Race to Dubai, the season-long competition to crown the European Tour’s number one player. The tournament’s 13th edition will once again be staged at Jumeirah Golf Estates, one of the world’s premier golf destinations, from 18–21 November, with Rolex as Official Timekeeper.
The top 50 players on the Race to Dubai Rankings Presented by Rolex will compete for 12,000 ranking points – enhancing the winner’s prospects of being crowned Race to Dubai champion.
Set against the backdrop of Dubai’s glittering skyline, the DP World Tour Championship, Dubai is the season’s final event of the Rolex Series, which includes some of the most prestigious events on the European Tour’s international schedule.
Rolex’s enduring relationship with golf began in 1967 following a pioneering agreement with Arnold Palmer, who was joined by fellow members of The Big Three Jack Nicklaus and Gary Player as the brand’s first Testimonees in the sport. Since then, the brand has become intimately linked with the game, united in the quest for continuous improvement and unwavering precision. In 1997, it reaffirmed its commitment to golf in Europe when it became the Official Timekeeper of the European Tour, a partnership that remains strong to this day.
It is fitting then that some of the most memorable achievements at the DP World Tour Championship, Dubai have involved Rolex Testimonees. Like the Swiss watchmaker, these golfers are driven to uphold the spirit of the game and hone their craft in the pursuit of perpetual excellence.
RETURNING TESTIMONEES
Rolex Testimonees have enjoyed success on Jumeriah’s Earth Course, with defending champion Matthew Fitzpatrick returning having prevailed over Europe’s best in 2020 and 2016. The Englishman, who represented Europe at the Ryder Cup earlier this year, has won seven European Tour events and is looking to continue his recent good form following victory at the Estrella Damm N.A. Andalucía Masters last month.
Fellow Testimonees looking to create their own legacy at this tournament include Ryder Cup players Paul Casey and Rafa Cabrera Bello, who have claimed 15 and four career European Tour titles respectively. The 44-year-old Englishman enters the week in seventh place on the Race to Dubai as he looks to be crowned Europe’s best for the first time while Spaniard Rafa Cabrera Bello lifted his fourth European title last month in his homeland.
