The open

At The Open, golfers compete for the coveted Claret Jug, one of the oldest prizes in sport. The final Major of the year was founded by pioneers of the sport whose guiding principle was to crown the Champion Golfer of the Year. Since 1860, The Open has been played at some of the United Kingdom’s most cherished links courses, including Royal Birkdale, Carnoustie, Prestwick, Royal Liverpool, Royal Lytham & St Annes, Royal Portrush, Royal St George’s and Royal Troon, as well as at the home of golf, St Andrews. Rolex has been the event’s Official Timekeeper since 1981 and Premier Partner since 2018.
