New York, 12 September 2022 – Rolex Testimonees Iga Świątek and Carlos Alcaraz triumphed at the 2022 US Open, securing the women’s and men’s singles crown respectively and bringing to a close two weeks of thrilling tennis. This victory at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center marks the Pole’s third and the Spaniard’s maiden Grand Slam® singles title.
After a thrilling performance in the final, Iga Świątek emerged victorious in straight sets 6-2, 7-6. The youngest US Open men’s singles finalist since 1990, Carlos Alcaraz proved a worthy champion, displaying impressive skill, precision and composure to win in four sets 6-4, 2-6, 7-6, 6-3 in the electric atmosphere for which the final Grand Slam® tournament of the season has come to be defined by.
The finals proved a fitting culmination to this year’s tournament, hosted in the Arthur Ashe Stadium, which celebrates 25 years since its inauguration. Throughout the competition, both players navigated the high bounce of the ball and fast pace of play with accuracy, timing and consistency. The US Open trophy is a remarkable seventh trophy for Iga Świątek so far in 2022 and her second Grand Slam® singles title of the year. Having dominated on the clay of Roland-Garros, the World No. 1 has demonstrated her outstanding skill and all-round game by conquering two opposing surfaces.
With this victory, Iga Świątek joins an esteemed group of Rolex Testimonees to have been crowned in the Big Apple, including 2019 champion Bianca Andreescu as well as Angelique Kerber and Sloane Stephens, who won the tournament in 2016 and 2017 respectively.

Carlos Alcaraz’s win elevates him into an exclusive group of Rolex Testimonees who have etched their name on the esteemed trophy, including 2020 winner Dominic Thiem, 2009 winner Juan-Martín Del Potro and Roger Federer, who enjoyed one of the most dominant reigns of any player at Flushing Meadows, winning five in a row between 2004 and 2008. It also sees the Spaniard become the youngest World No. 1 ever at the age of 19.
