Rolex Clock at Rockefeller Center
ROCKEFELLER CENTER UNVEILS ROLEX CLOCK IN THE HEART OF MIDTOWN MANHATTAN
Rolex is delighted to announce an exclusive partnership with Rockefeller Center to celebrate the upcoming opening of the new Rolex North American headquarters at 665 Fifth Avenue. This collaboration marks a significant deepening of the watchmaker’s presence at the intersection of culture and commerce, uniting two of New York City’s most enduring symbols of prestige and excellence.
As part of the partnership, in which Rolex will serve as Exclusive Timepiece Partner, a Rolex Clock has been unveiled above the iconic Rockefeller Center Rink. Rolex and Rockefeller Center will also host yearly events and cultural installations further cementing Fifth Avenue as the premier global destination for luxury and innovation.
Inspired by the landmark building’s original 1930s Art Deco style, the Rolex Clock is meant to become a new icon at the Center, serving as a lasting symbol of precision, craftsmanship, and the significance of every moment.
“Rolex is one of the most respected and influential luxury brands in the world, with timepieces crafted to last for generations. For nearly a century, Rockefeller Center has similarly stood as a place that creates memories that will last a lifetime,” said EB Kelly, Senior Managing Director at Tishman Speyer and Head of Rockefeller Center, “We are honored to partner with a brand of Rolex’s stature, and we look forward to seeing the clock become a new emblem for New York.”
The new Rolex Clock at Rockefeller Center features clean lines, balanced proportions, and a dial designed for immediate legibility—clear displays, strong visual contrast, and a carefully considered marker and hand design.
The five pillars that support the clock recall the five points of the Rolex crown and the five links in a Rolex Jubilee bracelet. The clock features the iconic fluted bezel design originally introduced in 1926 with the debut of the Oyster watch. The raised fluting at the top of the clock intersects at the center, representing the four cardinal points: North, South, East, West.
The Rolex Clock is set atop a newly designed information center, located on 50th Street between 5th and 6th Avenues. Visitors and New Yorkers can purchase tickets for Rockefeller Center experiences, including Top of the Rock Observation Deck, or learn more about the dining and shopping and other entertainment experiences available on campus, at the information center.
Since its creation in the 1930s, Rockefeller Center has been a destination for New Yorkers, and by extension, visitors. One of the nation’s most prestigious and recognizable landmarks, Rockefeller Center has built its reputation by offering unmatched experiences across its campus, including more than 85 retail shops and over 50 dining options. It is a destination for people who come here to work and play, hosting creatives and leaders across all industries and inspiring generations of visitors.
