Geneva, 10 May 2022 – The CHI Royal Windsor Horse Show returns to the resplendent private grounds of Windsor Castle in Berkshire, England, from 12–15 May for four days of elite equestrian competition. The grand finale to this prestigious international show will be the 5* Rolex Grand Prix on the Sunday.

This year’s event includes the Platinum Jubilee Celebration – 90 minutes of arena theatre featuring more than 500 horses and 1,000 performers – to mark 70 years of service by Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II to the people of the United Kingdom, the Realms and the Commonwealth.

First staged in 1943, Royal Windsor’s enduring commitment to tradition and excellence reflects Rolex’s own defining values. The brand has been an Official Partner of the show since 2016 as part of its relationship with the sport that dates back to 1957 when pioneering British show jumper Pat Smythe became the brand’s first equestrian Testimonee.

In the ensuing 65 years, Rolex has forged lasting bonds with key individuals and organizations who set the highest standards of performance, helping to foster the excellence and elegance inherent in equestrianism.

ROLEX TESTIMONEES LEAD THE CHALLENGE

As always, the 5* Rolex Grand Prix is sure to provide a thrilling spectacle. Competitors will require the highest level of technical precision, boldness and resolve to master designer Bernardo Costa Cabral’s challenging course.

Germany’s Daniel Deusser is the current live contender for the Rolex Grand Slam of Show Jumping – the sport’s most demanding challenge – following his impressive victory in the Rolex Grand Prix at The Dutch Masters in March. Looking ahead to the show, he said:

“The Rolex Grand Prix at the CHI Royal Windsor Horse Show is always a top-class competition with the best riders in the world competing in an incredible setting. It’s a highlight of the season and I’m really looking forward to being back there.”

Deusser, ranked World No. 7 takes his place among a distinguished field that includes fellow Rolex Testimonee Steve Guerdat, aiming to regain the title he won in 2018 and go one better than his second placing in 2021.

Martin Fuchs, who finished third behind Guerdat last year, will look to continue the rich vein of form that has elevated him to the World No. 3 ranking. The Swiss pair travel to England with a fresh sense of the skill, accuracy and athleticism required to win a Rolex Grand Prix, having both won Majors in 2021; Guerdat at the CSIO Spruce Meadows Masters ‘Tournament’, Fuchs at the CHI Geneva

Scott Brash, the only competing rider to have accomplished the Rolex Grand Slam following his three consecutive Majors in 2014–2015, will be joined by fellow Briton Harry Charles. Rolex’s youngest Testimonee has sealed his place among the world’s elite riders with a string of 5* victories that has helped elevate him the World No. 1 Under-25 ranking. Charles finished an impressive fourth on his FEI Jumping World CupTM Final debut in Leipzig last month.

He said:

“To win the Rolex Grand Prix at Royal Windsor would be a dream come true for me. It’s such a special show and with the support of the home crowd, I will be giving it my all to win.”

Kent Farrington of the United States won back-to-back Grand Prix at this event in 2016 and 2017, while another Testimonee to have enjoyed success at the venue is France’s Kevin Staut, who will return to the scene of his individual gold at the 2009 European Championships.
