The first date on the Grand Slam® calendar, the Australian Open is seen as a fresh start.

The Tournament is played in January on the hard court of Melbourne Park. Following the off-season players return reinvigorated to a friendly atmosphere, ready to get the new campaign off to the best possible start.

The finals are contested in front of almost 15,000 spectators at the Rod Laver Arena, the central court at the Melbourne Park sports complex.
