OPENING NEW HORIZONS

The Oyster Perpetual Land-Dweller represents the culmination of Rolex expertise today, fruit of more than a century of experience in watchmaking. This contemporary watch with an integrated bracelet is designed for those well-grounded men and women who build their own destinies, seeing opportunity in every moment.

Unveiled in 2025, the Oyster Perpetual Land-Dweller is characterized by bold aesthetics and cutting-edge technology. No fewer than 32 patent applications and patents pertain to the Land-Dweller; 18 are exclusive to this watch. Of those, 16 concern its movement and two relate to its case and bracelet. This most contemporary timepiece testifies to the pioneering spirit that drives Rolex and is a fitting companion for every occasion. It represents the culmination of Rolex expertise today, fruit of more than a century of experience in watchmaking.

The Land-Dweller reinterprets the intricate and challenging design of watches with integrated bracelets. It is paired with a metal bracelet – the Flat Jubilee – which merges seamlessly with the Oyster case. Bracelet and case form a balanced, harmonious whole, with the alternation of polished and technical satin finishings further enhancing the interplay of the shapes and volumes.

At the heart of the Land-Dweller beats calibre 7135. Thinner than the majority of Rolex movements, this movement at the cutting edge of horological research stands out for its frequency of 5 Hz – a rate that notably allows the watch to maintain its chronometric precision whatever the wearer’s actions and arm movements. Underlying this exceptional performance are a regulating system composed of an innovative escapement – the Dynapulse – and a state-of-the-art oscillator.

BOLDLY SHAPING THE FUTURE
Resolutely bold and forward-looking, the Land-Dweller encapsulates the desire to embrace the here-and-now while shaping the future. It carries a simple yet powerful message: to be one with your time and place in order to build tomorrow’s world. Whether in the heart of the city or deep in the country, the Land-Dweller symbolizes the harmony between the wearer and their world. It conveys, through the lens of Rolex, the essence of personal achievement: a journey, marked by victories quietly obtained and challenges overcome.

DIAL WITH HONEYCOMB MOTIF AND EXCLUSIVE DISPLAY
The dial of the Land-Dweller showcases a honeycomb motif revisited by Rolex. This graphically appealing pattern is characterized by stylized cells in subtle relief. Intense white or ice blue, the dial on the versions with a Chromalight display features distinctive 6 and 9 numerals, open at their centre, and index hour markers on which the luminescent material extends the full length of the component. The watch face may also be graced with ten baguette-cut diamond hour markers. The hands are perfectly rectilinear, and the seconds hand includes a counterweight shaped like one of the honeycomb cells. The Land-Dweller’s dial is framed by an angled flange whose pad-printed minute track is graduated to the half-second. The flange is the same colour as the dial, the intense white version having a fine satin finish and the ice blue variant a circular satin finish.

THE OYSTER CASE, SYMBOL OF WATERPROOFNESS
The Land-Dweller is housed in an Oyster case with curved, polished sides which are chamfered, and this bevel along the top edges is also polished. The case is fitted with a sapphire case back and crowned by a fluted bezel displaying a decidedly contemporary look, with wider fluting compared to other Classic models. On precious metal versions it may also feature a bezel set with trapeze-cut diamonds.

The Land-Dweller’s Oyster case, 36 mm or 40 mm in diameter and guaranteed waterproof to a depth of 100 metres (330 feet), is a paragon of robustness and elegance. The middle case is crafted from a solid block of Oystersteel, 18 ct Everose gold or 950 platinum. The case back, edged with fine fluting, is hermetically screwed down with a special tool employed by approved watchmakers. The Twinlock winding crown, fitted with a double waterproofness system, screws down securely against the case. Made of virtually scratchproof sapphire, the crystal – with a Cyclops lens at 3 o’clock for easy reading of the date – as well as the transparent case back benefit from an anti-reflective coating. The waterproof Oyster case provides optimal protection for the movement nestled inside.

FLAT JUBILEE BRACELET
The Land-Dweller is paired with a five-piece link Flat Jubilee bracelet. Specially designed for the watch, this metal bracelet is a reinterpretation of the emblematic Jubilee bracelet, unveiled at the launch of the Datejust in 1945. It retains the same structure, with three narrower links in the centre flanked by two broader ones at the edges, but differs in that all the links are flat and the centre links are slightly raised in relation to the outer links, whose top edges are chamfered.

A robust, durable attachment system ensures the perfectly fluid integration of the Flat Jubilee with the Oyster case. A patent application was filed for this complex assembly. Each bracelet section incorporates ceramic inserts around the spring bar, the metal pin that secures the bracelet to the middle case. On the versions in 18 ct Everose gold and 950 platinum, the Flat Jubilee also includes – as do other Rolex bracelets in precious metal – ceramic inserts around the pins inside the links. These small patented tubes, which are completely hidden from view, were developed by the brand to help prevent premature wear and enhance the bracelet’s flexibility on the wrist.

The Flat Jubilee bracelet is furnished with a concealed Crownclasp, developed by Rolex, which opens with a hinged Rolex crown, providing a final aesthetic and functional touch.

CALIBRE 7135
The Land-Dweller 36 and the Land-Dweller 40 are powered by calibre 7135, a self-winding mechanical movement entirely developed and manufactured by Rolex. A consummate demonstration of technology, this movement carries a number of patents. It offers outstanding performance, particularly in terms of precision, power reserve, convenience and reliability. An evolution of calibre 7140, which equips the 1908 model, calibre 7135 is particularly noteworthy for its revolutionary regulating mechanism – escapement and oscillator – that enables it to beat at a frequency of 5 Hz, or 36,000 beats per hour, thereby measuring time to one tenth of a second.

Calibre 7135 incorporates the Dynapulse escapement in silicon – a material resistant to strong magnetic fields – which alone is the subject of seven patent applications. This high-performance sequential distribution escapement significantly enhances the way in which the energy delivered by the barrel is transmitted to the oscillator. Combining high energy efficiency with great dependability, it is the result of nearly ten years of research and development.

The movement is fitted with the patented Syloxi hairspring in silicon, produced by Rolex. In addition to withstanding strong magnetic fields, this hairspring offers great stability in the face of temperature variations as well as high resistance to shocks. Its patented geometry ensures the calibre’s regularity in any position. The coils of the Syloxi hairspring in calibre 7135 were made thicker to confer greater rigidity. This modification grants greater power to the hairspring, an essential factor for the movement to beat at 5 Hz.

The oscillator of calibre 7135 also demonstrates excellent resistance to strong magnetic fields. It comprises a balance staff made from high-technology ceramic, and a balance wheel in optimized brass (an alloy which, like the ceramic, withstands high-intensity magnetic fields) with variable inertia regulated extremely precisely via gold Microstella nuts. The oscillator is held firmly in place by a height-adjustable traversing bridge, enabling very stable positioning to increase shock resistance. It is also mounted on optimized high-performance Paraflex shock absorbers which, in addition to further enhancing the movement’s shock resistance, ensure optimal repositioning of the balance staff after a shock and enable it to oscillate regularly in any position.

Calibre 7135 is equipped with a self-winding system via a Perpetual rotor, which ensures continuous winding of the mainspring by harnessing the movements of the wrist to provide a constant source of energy. Its oscillating weight is fashioned in yellow gold and cut out. Thanks to its barrel architecture and the escapement’s superior efficiency, the power reserve of this movement extends to approximately 66 hours.

Visible through the transparent case back, the Land-Dweller’s movement is beautifully finished and decorated. In particular, its bridges are embellished with Rolex Côtes de Genève, an exclusive decoration that differs from traditional Côtes de Genève by the addition of a slight polished groove between each band. Calibre 7135 is also marked with the words ‘Chronometer Perpetual’ and ‘Superlative Adjusted’ engraved on the oscillating weight and on the bridges, respectively.

THE LAND-DWELLER, SUPERLATIVE CHRONOMETER CERTIFIED
Like all Rolex watches, the Land-Dweller is covered by the Superlative Chronometer certification redefined by Rolex in 2015. This exclusive designation testifies that every watch leaving the brand’s workshops has successfully undergone a series of tests conducted by Rolex in its own laboratories and according to its own criteria. These certification tests apply to the fully assembled watch, after casing the movement, guaranteeing superlative performance on the wrist in terms of precision, power reserve, waterproofness and self-winding. The Superlative Chronometer status is symbolized by the green seal that comes with every Rolex watch and is coupled with an international five-year guarantee.

The precision of every movement – officially certified as a chronometer by the Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC) – is tested a second time by Rolex after being cased, to ensure that it meets criteria that are far stricter than those of the official certification. The precision of a Rolex Superlative Chronometer is in the order of −2/+2 seconds per day – the rate deviation tolerated by the brand for a finished watch is significantly smaller than that accepted by COSC for official certification of the movement alone.

The Superlative Chronometer certification testing is carried out using state-of-the-art equipment specially developed by Rolex and according to an exclusive protocol that simulates the conditions in which a watch is actually worn and more closely represents real-life experience. The entirely automated series of tests also checks the waterproofness, the self-winding capacity and the power reserve of all of Rolex watches. These tests systematically complement the qualification testing during development and production, in order to ensure the watches’ reliability, robustness, and resistance to strong magnetic fields and shocks.
