JANNIK SINNER CLAIMS VICTORY AT THE 2024 US OPEN, IN A ROLEX TESTIMONEE FINAL

On Sunday 8 September, two Rolex Testimonees took centre stage in the world’s largest tennis arena, to contest the men’s singles final of the 2024 US Open. Jannik Sinner, the World No. 1, took on home favourite Taylor Fritz in a meeting of power and precision, ultimately securing his second Grand Slam® title with a commanding scoreline of 6–3, 6–4, 7–5. The pair delivered skilful exchanges on Arthur Ashe Stadium, with Sinner raising his game at key moments throughout the 2 hours and 17 minutes to prevail. Flushing Meadows has been renowned for its electrifying atmosphere since it first hosted the tournament in 1978, and the crowd showed their appreciation for Sinner’s masterful performance as he lifted the trophy.

For almost 50 years, Rolex has supported the dedication and quest for excellence that has rewarded Sinner with Grand Slam® glory twice this season – with the Italian winning the Australian Open in January. It also recognizes the perseverance embodied by Fritz that saw him compete in his first Grand Slam® final in front of his adoring supportersThe Swiss watchmaker first partnered with The Championships, Wimbledon in 1978 and became Official Timekeeper of the US Open four decades later, in 2018. After the match, Sinner reflected on the pride he felt at becoming the first Italian player in history to win the singles title. Sinner says:

This title, for me, means so much and for my team who supports me each day, the people who are close to me. I feel very honoured and privileged to be part of the Rolex family. We have been together for four years and winning these kind of titles together is one of the nicest feelings.

Sinner’s victory at this year’s Grand Slam® finale rounds off a phenomenal season for the 23-year-old, who joined the Rolex family of Testimonees in 2020. With his natural flair for the game and magnetic character, he is inspiring generations in his country and beyond. Having sensationally guided Italy to victory in the Davis Cup in 2023, Sinner has since reached at least the quarter-final of every tournament he has played in, including the four Grand Slam® events, and holds a perfect 6-0 record in finals in 2024.
